H. Craig Singleton

 

Dr. Craig Singleton joined the faculty of Dominican in 1997 as the Chair of the Department of Music and Performing Arts. For the previous 13 years, he served as director of the Dixon School of Church Music at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He has performed in voice and choral conducting in several states, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

He graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, with a major in music and religion and received both a Master of Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He also received a Master of Music in Music Education from Holy Names University in Oakland, California, and has studied in Budapest, Hungary at the Vigadó Redoute He has extensive experience as a singer (baritone), a church musician, a conductor and dabbles with classical guitar.

Since 2000, Dr. Singleton has conducted the Dominican University Winifred Baker Chorale in works of many composers, including Schütz, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Vaughan Williams, Rutter, and Lauridsen.
