CGB1441 Embraceable You (Handbell Score)
Description
George Gershwin’s beloved Embraceable You enters the handbell repertoire in this faithful and stylish arrangement by Cathy Moklebust. Written in 1928 for the operetta East Is West, the song later appeared in the 1930 Broadway musical Girl Crazy, where Ginger Rogers—performing a Fred Astaire–choreographed routine—became an overnight sensation. Cathy’s arrangement opens with a dreamy, chromatic extended introduction featuring handchimes and shimmering chime‑tree glissandi, then moves into a gently flowing beguine enriched by claves, bongos, maracas, and string bass. Memorable and thoroughly audience‑pleasing, this setting is a delightful addition to concerts and festivals. Reproducible instrumental parts are included with the full score.
