From the expansive opening to the subdued ending, interpretation of the timeless text from Song of Solomon is an important musical characteristic of this expressive concert/festival work. Accessible while providing a few challenges, the a cappella setting encourages developing choirs to explore contrasts in articulation, dynamics, tempo, phrasing, texture and vocal qualities as means to develop and refine personal and overall ensemble musicality.
