CGB1370 Grazioso Giocoso (Full Score)
Description
This flexible and imaginative original work is written for double handbell and handchime choirs, but can also be performed by a single ensemble using bells and chimes – or bells alone. The Grazioso section opens with a gentle, childlike simplicity, gradually maturing into rich harmonies and flowing counterpoint. The lively Giocoso section introduces shifting meters (8/8, 4/4, and 6/8), adding melodic and rhythmic intrigue while maintaining a repetitive foundation that’s easy to internalize. Techniques include malleting, martellatos, martellato lifts, echoes, thumb-damps, LV, and shaking. Choir I is scored for 3–7 octaves (Level 3), and Choir II for 3 octaves (Level 2+). Both incorporate optional handchimes. Grazioso Giocoso will be a joyful and versatile selection for worship or concert at any non-seasonal time of year.
