Helenclair Lowe

 

CORVALLIS -- Helenclair Lowe, 91, a resident of the Stoney Brook Assisted Living Center, died Monday.

She was born in Seattle to William and Helen (Burrows) Dudley. From the age of 9 she lived in Southern California, later working as a music teacher in public schools. She also gave private music lessons and was a choral director, pianist and composer. She was a past president of the National Choristers Guild.

She and her husband, Louis, were married for 48 years. He died in 1984.

In 2003, Mrs. Lowe moved to Corvallis to be near her granddaughter, Kathy Donaldson.

She is survived by daughters Lois Helvey of Oxnard, Calif., and Martha Ellis of Santa Clara, Calif. She also had three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Lowe will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the College United Methodist Church, Philomath. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 in the Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, Calif.
