This energetic setting of the Turkish folk song, Uskudar, has been carefully crafted by Mark Burrows to be both Interesting and intuitive. Often, one of the biggest stumbling blocks of learning a multicultural piece is an unfamiliar language. Uskudar utilizes repetition so that the minimal Turkish text, once learned, becomes easier with each repetition of the chorus. Incorporating the optional Oboe, Finger Cymbals, Tambourine and Dumbek will aid in providing a stylistically authentic performance of this piece. A pronunciation guide and translation are provided.
