In Hosanna to the King, Cathy Moklebust weaves together two standard Palm Sunday hymns – “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” (VALET WILL ICH DIR GEBEN) and “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” (ELLACOMBE) – with a fanfare that echoes the triumphant refrain, “Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna to the King!” This uplifting and approachable composition features simple, repetitive rhythms and generous use of LV, with just a few touches of martellato, malleting, and a celebratory shake at the conclusion. Available in compatible editions for 2-3 and 3-6 octaves, this level 2 piece will be a delightful and accessible addition to the Palm Sunday repertoire.
