A lament is a passionate expression of grief and mourning. The use of the harmonic minor scale (minor scale with a raised 7th) in Lament evokes anguish and sorrow. The piece is easily programmed for church and would help bring scripture to life, as laments and lamentations are a prevalent expression throughout the Bible. In non-religious settings, the piece can be programmed to express sorrow, recognize crisis, or anytime an evocative minor piece is needed.
