The first stanza features a unison vocal line which would, of course, lend itself beautifully as a solo for this traditional, simple carol melody. The second stanza combines optional use of flute (or recorder, violin, etc.) in descant style. John Horman interjects an eight-measure keyboard interlude with each stanza for extension and interest.
