Description
Trauma Informed Teaching and Mindfulness in the Choral Setting
with presenter Sarah Tullock
Thursday, January 15, 2026
6:00pm-7:00pm central
Choral classrooms and rehearsal spaces can be some of the most healing gathering places in any institution. Choristers bring their own internal instrument and their accumulated life experience into every choral rehearsal, worship service, and performance. This reality necessarily requires singers to risk great vulnerability anytime they choose to share in choral experiences. During this webinar participants will gain insight into mindfulness techniques, trauma informed teaching practices, and frameworks for building connection in the choral setting, whether in the church, school, or wider community.
This webinar is free to Choristers Guild members and available to non-members for $30. The webinar will be recorded and available to all registrants to watch on-demand.
Sarah T. Tullock is a music educator, conductor, poet, composer, and Kodály practitioner based in Chattanooga, TN. Tullock received her BA in Church Music from Emory & Henry University, her Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, her Kodály certification from KIUTC, and twice studied as a Melodious Accord Fellow with Alice Parker. In addition to her work as a public-school music educator, Tullock also teaches Choral Conducting, Pedagogy, and Research for two Kodály Institutes (KIUTC and CKI), serves as a choral clinician upon request, leads Community SING events, and was the 2022 recipient of the Organization of American Kodály Educators "Outstanding Emerging Educator" award.
