Join us for a fall workshop to rejuvenate your work with choirs! In this session, Dana Effler will share ideas to help you care for your choir members in ways that engage body, mind, spirit and voice. We will also explore how you can arrange singers within your choir to optimize blend, balance and tuning. Come ready to sing a little!

The second half of the event will include  a reading session of choral music suitable for  choirs with a wide range of accessibility. 

Location: First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth (800 W 5th St, Fort Worth, TX 76102)

Cost: $15 (includes sessions, reading packet, light refreshments)

CPE Credit is offered for licensed Texas educators.

Dana Effler serves as Director of Music and Arts Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Dallas where she oversees the graded choir and handbell program, the Rotunda Theatre program, and the Goodrich Gallery.  She conducts the Chancel Choir, First Men’s Chorus, First Women’s Chorus and Variations Youth Choir. Under her direction, the Chancel Choir has toured Canada, England, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, France, Scotland and Switzerland. They have sung for both Southwestern division and National ACDA conventions and for the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Beyond the church, Dana enjoys her work as a singer, guest conductor and clinician for organizations including American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, Choristers Guild, The American Guild of Organists, YouthCue and The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from Furman University and master’s degrees in choral conducting and in vocal performance from Southern Methodist University. Dana continues to be inspired and energized by her engagement with the volunteer singers in her choir program who love making great music together!
