John G. Morgan

 

Dr. John G. Morgan, veteran university professor/dean, and church leader, obtained his doctoral degree (with honors) from USC, his masters and bachelor’s degrees from Baylor University. Published by Boosey & Hawkes, Bourne, Mark Foster, Choristers Guild, Alliance Publishers, Inc., and in The Hymn, Dr. Morgan’s original works have been presented at least 3 national conferences, regional conferences and at various universities/colleges, schools, churches, and over area radio/television. He has had articles published in 2 national journals. Larger creative works include a sacred  opera, historical Broadway musical, horn (hymn) concerto and (staged) Passion.

A salient ecumenicism in content reflects his unique experience/positions in Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Catholic (as well as Episcopal, Baptist and Christian) churches large and small. He has served on the faculties of the University of Colorado (Denver), William Carey College (as Dean), Berry College, Mercer University (Atlanta), and Emory University, prior to retiring from Reinhardt University.

Dr. Morgan currently resides in Marietta, GA, with his wife, Shirley; they have two grown children.
