Gene Grier


Gene Grier (1942-2009) was a nationally known composer, author, educator and recording artist. Over 1,000 of his compositions have been published by some of the world\'s leading publishers. His works include children\'s musicals, cantatas, solos, piano collections and textbooks. Gene was a twenty-nine time winner of the prestigious ASCAP Popular Song Writing Award. Eleven of his children\'s recordings have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Children\'s Music Field.

Gene was President of EverGreen Morning Press and Birdsongs Unlimited, two of America\'s newest and highly regarded choral music publishing companies. He was active with the church singing on a regular basis in the church's adult choir and the men's chorus.

After serving as Executive Vice President & General Manager of J.W. Pepper - was with Choristers Guild in an anthem setting by Michael Bedford. Her hymns have been published by Abingdon Press in a collection entitled Children of Creation: Hymns of Love and Justice for the 21st Century and also by the United Church of Christ in its new praise hymnal, Sing! Prayer and Praise. Her hymn "God Is Still Speaking" is published with Hope Publishing Co. in its online hymnal supplement.
