| Dr.
Susan E. Geschke
is currently the Director of Adult Handbells and the Adult Vocal
Choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Her
choirs include ringers of all ages and levels of experience. Susan
is an energetic and inspiring conductor with a reputation for combining
hard work with fun. She actively composes and arranges handbell
music and has more than 60 publications to her credit.
Susan graduated Summa
Cum Lauda with a B.A. in secondary education from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa
and received the Mimi I. Jehle Award for Outstanding Teaching. Susan
continued at the university and earned her doctorate in Germanic
Linguistics. During that time, she played oboe and solo English
Horn with the University of Illinois Large Symphonic Band for seven
years. After graduation, Susan taught at the college level until
retiring to stay home with her two boys. Because there is always
a song in her heart, Susan returned to college to earn a degree
in music and began her career as a composer.
