Daniel Barta (b. 1953) is Director of Music Theory and Composition and Professor at Roberts Wesleyan College. From 1994-2007, he was Chair of the Theory and Composition Department at Philadelphia Biblical University. Dr. Barta holds the B.Mus., M.Mus. and DMA from Temple University, where he studied with Clifford Taylor, Maurice Wright and Matthew Greenbaum.

His portfolio includes compositions in all genres, including solo, chamber, choral and orchestral works. He has collaborated with storyteller Roger Petersen on a set of Hans Christian Andersen stories for storyteller and chamber ensemble, three of which were presented at the International Hans Christian Andersen Conference in Salt Lake City. Recently, he completed A Hymn Sing: Five Sacred Songs for David Kim (Concertmaster, Philadelphia Orchestra) and Morning and Evening: Two Sacred Songs for Ann Martindale Williams (Principal Cellist, Pittsburgh Symphony). Two of his works for keyboard, Suite for Piano and Toccata Joyeuse (for organ), have been released on the DTR label.
