Description:
This publication features two contrasting Christmas carol settings for handbells and organ. A serene "O Little Town of Bethlehem" (ST. LOUIS) employs the bells in gentle, arpeggiated sonorities as the organ "sings" the tune, then the bells "sing" the tune with an organ accompaniment using quiet strings. "Good Christian Friends, Rejoice" (IN DULCI JUBILO) contrasts the joyous pealing of bells with a slower, lyrical middle section. The organ parts are registered for a modest organ, but the creative organist will want to experiment using the additional colors of a larger instrument to heighten the impact of these festive arrangements.
