| Donna
Butler has
served as Director of Traditional Music of Lee's Summit United Methodist
Church in the Kansas City area since September 2005. A native of
Ada, Oklahoma, Donna holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree
in Piano from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Music
degree in Theory and Composition from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Over the past
22 she has served churches in Oklahoma, the Dallas/Fort Worth area,
the Kansas City area and Little Rock, Arkansas. She is an accomplished
pianist and soloist in addition to her work as a composer.
Donna has received
annual standard awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors
and Publishers (ASCAP) each year since 1989 and has garnered numerous
awards while preparing for her degrees. In 1989 the Missouri House
of Representatives passed a resolution in her honor recognizing
special insights on music leadership.
Donna has been
chosen by Oklahoma Baptist University as a "Profiles in Excellence"
award recipient, given to noteworthy alumni. In 2005 Donna married
Gary Douglas. They live in Olathe, Kansas with their shetland sheepdog,
Beau Steinway. Donna Butler Douglas is available for composer weekends
