Dan
Barta,
Assistant Professor of Music at Philadelphia Biblical University,
holds Bachelor of Music in Composition, Masters of Music in Composition
degrees and from Temple University; currently working on Doctoral
Studies at Temple University; Church Music Diploma from Moody Bible
Institute and additional studies in Jazz Piano with Curtis Harmon.
His teaching specialty at PBU is Music Theory and Composition.
He has published
compositions with Choristers Guild and Concordia Publishing House
and his recent premieres and performances include The Buckwheat,
The World's Most Beautiful Rose, The Pen and The Inkwell (Hans
Christian Anderson stories for storyteller and chamber ensemble)
for the International Hans Christian Anderson Conference, Salt Lake
City, Utah; Duo for Flute and Cello, From Green to Silver
(song cycle for baritone and piano), From Green to Silver
(song cycle for baritone, violin, clarinet, bassoon, vibraphone
and piano), Suite for Piano and Toccata Joyeuse (for
organ).
A native of
Cleveland Ohio, he is listed in Who's Who Among Students in American
Universities and Colleges, 2000; Who's Who Among America's Teachers
- 1996, and 1998. His family includes wife, Peggy, and two children,
Jessica and Jonathan. Hobbies and personal interests include camping
and carpentry.
