Nancy Gifford

 

Nancy Gifford, a native of New Jersey, graduated with honors from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ with a BA in Music, including a concentration in Piano Performance and certification to teach Music K-12. She migrated to southeastern Pennsylvania, where she has taught music and directed choirs in several schools and churches for more than twenty years.

In 2013 Nancy earned a Master’s Degree in Composition, with distinction, from Westminster Choir College, Princeton New Jersey. In addition to the Composition major, many of her studies were in the areas of Sacred Choral Music and Conducting. She has composed commissioned choral works for schools and churches and written many pieces for her own choral groups, as well. Her music is listed in the catalogs of five publishers, and she also self- publishes.

Since 2008, Nancy Gifford has directed the Children’s Choir and Girl Choir at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Doylestown, PA. She has also taught piano and theory at the Piano School, Southampton, PA, since 2005 and visits local schools as a guest composer/conductor.

A member of ASCAP in both composer and author categories, Nancy composes original texts, rewords stories from Scripture, or searches for universally recognized texts which seem to sing on their own. The text is her source of inspiration, beginning with Scripture.

Nancy Gifford lives in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with her husband John Humphreys; they have three grown children.
