In the December 2005/January 2006 issue of The Chorister

After moving anything of value to the second floor and cutting sheets of plywood to fit the front windows, we stood watch, not knowing where Rita would send her strength. Fortunately for Houston, she turned another way. As we watched the hurricane's movements travel in a "counter the clock" direction, I spent many fascinating hours looking back over past issues (from the 1960's!) of The Chorister. The more I read, the more privileged I felt to be your new Editor and graphic designer.

Chorister's Guild is a rich treasure, nurtured over many years by dedicated people of immense talent and vision. I am very committed to supporting you in your work with children and music in the church through this incredible organization as we seek ways to provide you with meaningful materials and resources to assist you. As I am enjoying "new kid on the block" status, I need to hear from you! As you communicate what is most useful to your ministry, we will be able to address your needs more fully. I invite you to write or call with your comments or suggestions: ltrego@sjd.org or 832.687.5921.

In this issue of The Chorister you will find inspiration in John Horman's article A Cold and Snowy Sunday Morning; new teaching stategies in abundance in Pamela Vandewalker's Activities to ARM Your Teaching for Success; ideas on how to plan meaningful childrens' worship in Jan Moody's What's on the Menu?; reflections on our youth's ability to live into a greater sense of history in Helping Our Youth Join the Holy History by Randy Edwards; Helen Kemp's roadmap to understanding head tone, achieving pure vowels and realizing musical phrasing as a result of textual understanding in Timeless Treasures: A Letter from Helen Kemp; ready-to-use materials for teaching a lovely new hymn in Charlotte McElroy's Hymn Corner and more well presented and thought provoking Choir Devotions: January and February by Beverly Bailey. May your Advent, Christmas and Epiphany be rich and full of God's grace as you share His "Life and Light which has come among us!"
